BJP's Pravesh Ratan Makes a Significant Shift to AAP Before Delhi Assembly Elections

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) In a noteworthy political shift ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections early next year, BJP leader Pravesh Ratan has officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday.
Ratan, who previously contested the 2020 elections representing the BJP from Patel Nagar, made this transition during a press conference alongside senior party figure and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
As a leading member of the Jatav community, Ratan expressed his dissatisfaction with the operations of the BJP's state unit as a primary reason for his switch.
"The community from which I come holds a deep admiration for Arvind Kejriwal. I am not pleased with the functioning of the Delhi state BJP. I am here now and will remain here," he stated.
He further criticized the BJP, asserting, "The Jatav community and those from lower classes continue to face oppression. I have closely followed Arvind Kejriwal for quite some time. He has achieved significant milestones for the Jatav community in a short span, offering relief and opportunities for advancement."
In welcoming Ratan to the party, Manish Sisodia remarked, "I am thrilled that today, moved by the progress made under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership for the lower classes and the Jatav community, Pravesh Ratan is joining the AAP."
This event occurs months after former AAP MLA from Patel Nagar, Raj Kumar Anand, switched to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Anand subsequently left the BSP and rejoined the BJP.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, Ratan suffered a significant defeat in Patel Nagar, losing to Raj Kumar Anand by a margin exceeding 30,000 votes. The forthcoming elections are anticipated to feature another fierce competition between the two leaders, now representing opposing parties.
