New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) As the BJP introduced its 'Sankalp Patra' prior to the Delhi Assembly elections, it made a range of promises targeting women, the underprivileged, and marginalized groups in society. Several BJP leaders praised the manifesto, highlighting the party's dedication to fulfilling its commitments.
In an interview with IANS, BJP leader Yogender Chandoliya commended the Rs 2,500 financial aid for women, stating, "We have successfully implemented this initiative in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Unlike Kejriwal, who has repeatedly made announcements without delivering, we stand by our promises. This will also aid women in Delhi, and the public will witness the difference with the empty assurances of others.”
Chandoliya further criticized AAP’s promise of Rs 1,000 for women in Punjab, labeling it a deceptive tactic that has enraged the populace.
"The truth will emerge, and the public will question why they were misled for three years,” he mentioned, adding, “BJP’s policies, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guarantee that Rs 500 cylinders reach even the most remote areas, delivering real benefits to the people.”
Another BJP leader, Praveen Khandelwal, asserted that commitment distinguishes the party.
“BJP’s commitment to the people is evident from our historical actions. Our promises yield results, and with National President JP Nadda’s announcement today, we are demonstrating that we will persist in our efforts to develop Delhi,” he indicated, suggesting further announcements in the upcoming phase.
BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari also underscored the party’s dedication to women's welfare, pointing out the Samman Rashi provided to women in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
"While AAP has failed to meet its commitments in Punjab and Delhi, the BJP remains steadfast in fulfilling its promises,” he added, asserting that women’s support in Delhi would guarantee BJP’s success.
Senior BJP figure Vijender Gupta noted that the party has consistently prioritized women’s welfare.
“In states governed by us, we’ve established schemes like Ladli Behna Yojana, and now our manifesto includes financial support for pregnant women and the creation of Atal Canteens,” he articulated. “Unlike other parties, we don’t merely make promises; we deliver on them.”
Significant promises encompass Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance for women, a Rs 500 subsidy on LPG cylinders, and medical insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh for every resident. BJP leaders commended the manifesto, reiterating the party’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges, in contrast to other political entities.
The manifesto further includes the intention to set up Atal Canteens, offering meals at a mere Rs 5 to the impoverished. Nadda mocked Kejriwal’s Anna Canteen promise, deeming it a mere effort to deceive voters.
Voting for all 70 assembly seats in Delhi is scheduled for a single phase on February 5, with the contest evolving into a three-way competition. Both the BJP and Congress aim to thwart AAP from achieving a third consecutive term in governance. The Election Commission of India will announce the results of the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections on February 8. The deadline for submitting nominations is January 17, with scrutiny occurring by January 18. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until January 20. With the election timeline now public, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is now in effect.
