New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) The Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, proclaimed on Sunday that India is undergoing an extraordinary transformation in its infrastructure and logistics sectors, laying a robust groundwork for the nation’s economic development.

Speaking virtually at the third convocation of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Vadodara, Singh emphasized that “the more robust the logistics services we have, the more fortified our borders will be. Timely delivery of defence products and essential supplies for our soldiers enhances their morale at the borders.”

The Defence Minister characterized the logistics sector as a pivotal element for 21st century India, offering vast opportunities for youth who will be instrumental in cultivating a developed nation. He urged young individuals to embrace their role in this development.

Pointing out the government’s initiatives, Rajnath Singh noted that projects like multimodal transport hubs and mission mode schemes have considerably lowered logistics expenses and promoted data-driven decision-making.

During the event, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways and Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, highlighted the significant advancements made in Indian Railways over the past 11 years. He revealed that the rail network expanded by 5,300 km in the last year alone, with tunnel construction reaching a total of 368 km.

He underscored the necessity of developing human resources across sectors through educational institutions like Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The university has established MoUs with around 40 different industrial and educational institutions and suggested preparing research papers centered around marine engineering for future collaboration with marine industries.

Vaishnaw referred to Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya as the “engine of development” and encouraged students to align with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

A total of 194 students were awarded degrees in various disciplines during the convocation. One student from each program received the Academic Excellence Award, in addition to Outstanding Project and Best Student Awards.

Vice Chancellor Professor Manoj Choudhary welcomed attendees and shared insights into the institution’s achievements over the last three years. The ceremony was attended by Vadodara MP Dr. Hemang Joshi, Rajmata Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad, senior officials from the Indian Army and Railways, along with students and their families.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands as India’s first university dedicated to transport-related education, multidisciplinary research, and training. It aligns closely with the broader goals of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aimed at revolutionizing India’s infrastructure and logistics sector.

The Prime Minister’s vision for PM Gati Shakti is to establish a comprehensive, integrated, and efficient infrastructure ecosystem for India, addressing previous inefficiencies while propelling the country towards economic growth and global competitiveness. The core principle of PM Gati Shakti is integrated planning and coordinated execution, bringing together 16 ministries on a unified digital platform for synchronized planning and execution of infrastructure projects across various sectors, including railways, roadways, ports, and waterways.
