Bhopal, July 30 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Tuesday that he has been closely observing the monsoon conditions in the Gwalior-Chambal region, which has been experiencing intense rainfall for over 72 hours, resulting in a flood-like scenario.
In a video message released late Tuesday, the Minister mentioned that he had communicated with the collectors of Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar and instructed them to extend all necessary assistance to those affected.
He informed that the district administration has initiated a rescue operation in Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar districts, ensuring that all impacted individuals are relocated to safer areas, where they will receive comprehensive support from the administration and local representatives.
“I have directed the district collectors of Ashoknagar, Guna, and Shivpuri to guarantee that every individual is rescued safely. Those relocated to shelters are receiving food and essential items,” he stated.
Scindia also mentioned that he has contacted district BJP presidents and local officials to encourage them to assist the affected communities.
“I am actively monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with the state government,” he added.
He urged the public to stay vigilant as heavy rainfall is forecasted for the next two days in the Gwalior-Chambal area.
The Gwalior-Chambal region has faced significant rainfall over the past few days.
In the last 24 hours, Bhopal recorded 46 mm of rain, while Guna saw the highest at 235 mm, and Sehore recorded 110 mm, according to data from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall in various sections of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain on Wednesday.
Districts such as Shajapur, Vidisha, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram, Harda, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Chhindwara, and Betul are also expected to experience light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain is anticipated in districts like Sheopur, Shivpuri, Agar, Guna, Rajgarh, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and others.
Light showers are expected in Jabalpur, Dindori, Anuppur, Katni, Umariya, Bandhavgarh, Shahdol, Sidhi, and Singrauli during the evening hours on Wednesday.
Bhopal has been experiencing relentless rain for the past two days, prompting the district administration to declare a holiday for all private and government schools on Wednesday.
