New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has launched a scathing critique of the BJP-led government during the ongoing discussions on 'Operation Sindoor', challenging the selective accountability that the ruling party has presented regarding national security issues.
In statements made to reporters, Gogoi condemned the government for allegedly claiming credit for successful military endeavors while shifting blame for terror incidents onto others.
In reference to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, Gogoi asserted that the attackers were not operating independently but were supported by the Pakistani military establishment.
“The terrorists who infiltrated Pahalgam did not act alone; they were merely the face of a larger operation. Behind the attack in Pahalgam lies the Pakistani Army, which empowers various terrorist factions,” he stated.
“Today, the leader of the Pakistani Army is engaged in discussions with President Trump, and there are joint meetings occurring with the US military and forces from three additional nations,” he continued, suggesting a larger strategic context behind the recent violence.
“With respect to the satellite data received by these three terrorists, it is becoming evident which neighboring country's satellites were involved,” Gogoi remarked, implying foreign aid in the planning and execution of the infiltration.
Pointing out the government’s inconsistent narrative, he highlighted what he described as a contradiction in accountability.
“That’s why I’m disheartened that you wish to take credit for 'Operation Sindoor' but evade responsibility for Pahalgam. What a perplexing rationale! Credit for 'Operation Sindoor' is attributed to Prime Minister Modi, while the blame for Pahalgam lies with the late Pandit Nehru? This is quite the extraordinary logic, as articulated by Modi ji and Amit Shah ji,” Gogoi stated.
Tuesday’s debate witnessed intense exchanges and heated political discourse from both the ruling and Opposition benches. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha, commended the Armed Forces for their rapid response under 'Operation Sindoor'. “This is the new normal,” the Prime Minister remarked, referring to India’s fortified stance against cross-border terrorism.
