On Saturday night, the department's Task Force conducted a raid at a service apartment located in Kondapur, a bustling area in the IT sector, apprehending nine individuals who were reportedly consuming drugs.
Authorities seized an impressive 2.08 kg of cannabis (Ganja), 50 grams of OG Kush, a specific cannabis strain, 11.57 grams of psychedelic mushrooms (magic mushrooms), 1.91 grams of charas, and 4 LSD blots.
The organizers of this illicit rave party were identified as residents of neighboring Andhra Pradesh, who allegedly utilized fake identification to secretly hold the event at S.V. Nilayam, a service apartment in Kondapur, according to police reports.
The arrested individuals include Rahul, Unnati Emmanuela (alias Praveen), Ashok Naidu, Sammela Sai Krishna, Nagella Leela Manikantha, Hilton Joseph, Yashwanth Sridutta, Thota Kumaraswamy, and Nandam Sumanth Teja, all hailing from Andhra Pradesh. Two additional suspects, Shrinivas Choudhary and Akhil, remain at large.
The Excise police disclosed that Rahul was sourcing drugs via the dark web and distributing them through his accomplice Praveen.
Officials revealed that the rave party was orchestrated by Vasu and Shivam Rayudu, both from Vijayawada, who are suspected of organizing similar events in the past.
Additionally, the police confiscated six luxury vehicles from the suspects.
The Excise Police have registered a case against the apprehended individuals and initiated a search for the two absconding suspects. The arrested parties were subsequently transferred to the Serlingampally Excise Police for continued investigation.
Authorities are probing potential connections between the arrested individuals and previous rave parties, as well as examining their financial transactions.
This incident marks the latest in a series of drug-related operations in and around Hyderabad. Earlier, on July 9, the newly formed Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) dismantled a drug supply network operating from a restaurant in Kompally, resulting in the arrest of six suspects.
The restaurant owner, Surya Annamaneni, along with five businessmen managing various restaurants, hotels, and pubs in the city, were arrested for drug-related offenses.
Moreover, two senior police officials were subsequently apprehended on charges of drug peddling and consumption. Nineteen suspects, including tech professionals, medical practitioners, upscale pub owners, and business figures, were found linked to the network.
