Hyderabad, July 9 (NationPress) The newly-formed Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) in Telangana, in collaboration with the Cyberabad police, successfully dismantled a drug trafficking operation originating from a restaurant, leading to the apprehension of six suspects.
The individuals taken into custody include the main dealer Surya Annamaneni, who owns the Malnadu Restaurant in Kompally. He was allegedly found in possession of and distributing illegal narcotics, such as cocaine, ecstasy pills, and OG weed.
Also arrested were five businessmen: Yashwanth, Jaswanth, Navadeep, Pawan, and Rahul. All accused have connections to the hospitality sector, operating restaurants, hotels, or pubs throughout the city.
The police are actively searching for 19 additional suspects, which include tech professionals, medical practitioners, high-end pub owners, and individuals involved in real estate and food & beverage businesses.
According to EAGLE, this operation has revealed a complex, international drug distribution network involving foreign suppliers, consumers frequenting pubs, courier services for drug delivery, and electronic financial transactions.
The arrests occurred on July 7 after authorities acted on reliable information that Surya would arrive at his restaurant with illegal substances. During the operation, police discovered two packets of OG weed and ecstasy pills on the dashboard of his car. Additionally, a box containing women's shoes was found, concealing two packets of cocaine hidden in the heel of a sandal.
The confiscated items included 3.2 grams of OG weed, three ecstasy pills weighing 1.6 grams, and 10 grams of cocaine from Surya’s possession.
Surya, who holds an MBA in Marketing from IIBS, Bengaluru, admitted to being a frequent user of cocaine and OG weed at gatherings with friends and patrons at popular pubs in Hyderabad.
EAGLE reported that Surya's main suppliers included Indian contacts and a network of Nigerian drug traffickers operating from Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa—specifically Nick, Jerry, Dezmond, Stanley, and Prince.
Surya confessed to purchasing cocaine over 20 times between 2021 and 2025, often indulging at upscale pubs in Hyderabad.
