Ahmedabad, Dec 17 (NationPress) - The city is on high alert once again as a series of bomb threat emails have been sent to at least eight well-known schools, sparking widespread panic and necessitating enhanced security measures. The alarming messages, which claimed that explosives were situated on school premises, were reported around 10 a.m.
In response, local police and school officials launched an immediate emergency protocol, highlighting the disturbing trend of hoax threats that have targeted educational institutions in recent weeks.
The schools that were threatened include Zebar School in Thaltej, Maharaja Agrasen School on Gurukul Road, DAV International School in Makarba, Nirman School in Vastrapur, Zydus School in Vejalpur, the CBSE-affiliated Divine Child School in Adalaj, Aavishkar School in Kalol, and James & Jamieson School in Khoraj-Khodiyar.
Upon notification of the threats, school management quickly contacted the police control room. Responding with utmost seriousness, local police, the Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG), Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS), fire services, and dog squads were dispatched to the affected campuses.
As a safety precaution, students and staff were swiftly evacuated from classrooms and moved to secure locations, while the school grounds were sealed off for comprehensive inspections. Ongoing search operations are being conducted, with bomb disposal and sniffer dog teams meticulously scanning every area.
The sudden events caused anxiety among parents, many of whom hurried to the school grounds after news spread rapidly through messaging apps and social media. Police officers were deployed to manage crowds and provide reassurance to families.
Confirming the situation, the Vejalpur Police Inspector stated that multiple schools had received bomb threats via email that morning. “All standard operating procedures are being enacted. Thus far, nothing suspicious has been discovered, but investigations continue,” the officer reported.
Authorities are also pursuing an investigation to locate the origins of the threatening emails and identify the individuals responsible.
Officials observed that numerous esteemed schools in Ahmedabad have experienced similar hoax emails previously; however, each threat is treated as credible until proven otherwise. Security agencies remain vigilant as investigations progress.
