BPSC Demonstrations: Chirag Paswan Engages with Governor, Promises Fairness to Exam Candidates

Patna, Jan 10 (NationPress) In the midst of protests regarding the Bihar Public Service Commission, Union Minister and leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chirag Paswan met with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Friday, offering a commitment to justice for examination candidates.

Following the meeting, Minister Paswan spoke to the press, assuring that the NDA government in Bihar, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, is dedicated to delivering justice for the candidates and is open to suggestions for resolving the ongoing issues.

The BPSC exam that took place on December 13 of the previous year at 912 locations across the state faced serious allegations of misconduct due to reported “irregularities” at the Bapu Centre in Kumhrar, Patna.

In light of these allegations, the BPSC annulled the exam at that specific center and conducted a re-examination on January 4.

Nevertheless, the protesting candidates are demanding the cancellation of exams at all 912 centers, citing systemic problems.

A collective of candidates filed a petition with the Patna High Court on Thursday, with the next hearing set for January 15.

Previously, the Patna Police resorted to lathi charges on three occasions against the protesting candidates, which heightened tensions and public unrest.

Political figures from various parties, including RJD, Jan Suraaj Party, CPI-ML, and independent MLA Rajesh Ranjan (Pappu Yadav), have voiced their support for the protesting students.

Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, has been on a hunger strike since January 2 and was recently admitted to Medanta due to health complications. His party has also submitted a petition to the High Court seeking the cancellation of the exams.

This issue has escalated into a significant political controversy, with both ruling and opposition parties debating the government’s response to the situation.

The results of the January 15 High Court hearing and subsequent government actions will play a crucial role in addressing the concerns and rebuilding trust in the examination process.
