New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) The polling for the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) elections commenced on Tuesday, with students enthusiastically casting their votes.
The voting process initiated at 9 a.m. and will run until 5 p.m. The counting of votes is set to begin at 9 p.m., and the final results are anticipated to be revealed on November 6.
The 2025-26 JNUSU elections have transformed into a three-way contest involving the Left Unity, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
The Left Unity, which consists of the All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF), has nominated Aditi Mishra as its presidential candidate.
The ABVP has put forward Vikas Patel for the presidency, while the NSUI's candidate is Vikash Bishnoi. Various independent and smaller student organizations, including the Ambedkarite faction BAPSA and the Progressive Students’ Association, are vying for specific positions.
The voting is being conducted in two segments -- from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The JNUSU Election Committee had published the election schedule for 2025–26 on October 23. The electoral process officially commenced on October 24 with the release of the provisional voter list.
