Yadgir (Karnataka), June 14 (NationPress) - AICC President and the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to prioritize the development of the Kalyana Karnataka region to be on par with the Bengaluru and Mysuru regions of South Karnataka.
While addressing a crowd during the launch of the ‘Arogya Avishkara’ scheme in Yadgir, Kharge remarked, “People often speak of turning Bengaluru into a second Singapore. Our goal is not to replicate Singapore; rather, we demand the development of our region to align with the advancements seen in Bengaluru and Mysuru.”
He pointed out, “We are falling behind in education. Our districts rank low in board exam results. The lack of teachers is evident in these poor outcomes.”
Kharge further added, “Given that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is from Mysuru and Deputy CM Shivakumar is from Bengaluru, I implore them to enhance the Kalyana Karnataka region to mirror the growth of these cities.”
“Set aside the backlog quota and concentrate on filling the remaining vacancies, especially for teaching positions. Failure to do so will leave our youth in a disadvantaged state, possibly leading to a life of servitude,” he emphasized.
He also highlighted that there are no financial barriers to hiring in the Kalyana Karnataka region. “Recruitments are stalled due to objections from a mere 15% of the population. It’s essential to focus on the 85% and fill the teaching positions. Without action, the future of our children hangs in the balance,” he cautioned.
“There will be no educators to teach critical subjects like Maths, Science, and English. Even those who are placed here often seek transfers to the Mysuru area within a month,” Kharge elaborated.
He urged local MPs, MLAs, and Ministers to ensure that the allocated funds for the region are fully utilized. “CM Siddaramaiah frequently mentions that the allocated funds are not being spent effectively. Do not allow this to tarnish your reputation,” Kharge advised.
