New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) Delhi Assembly Speaker and Rohini legislator Vijender Gupta emphasized the urgent need to enhance the living conditions of senior citizens, whom he regards as the cornerstone of our communities.
“Our elders form the backbone of our families and communities — it is our obligation to establish environments where they are treated with respect, engaged, and cared for,” he stated during the launch of three newly constructed Senior Citizens’ Recreation Centres in Rohini Sector-13.
He noted that the well-being of senior citizens should be a collective responsibility, and fostering a culture of community care must be integrated into the daily life of the city.
The newly inaugurated centres at Dena Apartment, Sunehri Bagh Apartment, and Canara Apartment in Sector 13, Rohini, have been developed through the MLA Development Fund.
Gupta highlighted that senior citizens, who have dedicated their lives to nurturing families and communities, deserve the chance to enjoy fulfilling and dignified lives in their twilight years.
He stressed the necessity of providing dedicated spaces where elders can congregate, share their narratives, engage in recreational and cultural pursuits, and forge valuable friendships.
“These recreation centres will serve as warm and inviting hubs for our senior citizens to partake in group discussions, indoor games, reading, and cultural events. They will not only help stave off isolation but also foster healthy, active, and socially vibrant living,” he remarked.
Gupta also reaffirmed his commitment to developing more such community resources throughout the constituency, urging Resident Welfare Associations and local communities to work together and propose similar initiatives.
He assured attendees that his office would provide comprehensive support for efforts that enhance the social security and dignity of the elderly.
Residents present at the inauguration expressed gratitude for Gupta’s ongoing endeavors to meet the needs of all societal segments, particularly the elderly, who often need thoughtful, accessible spaces for leisure, education, and companionship.
According to Speaker Gupta, the new centres are expected to host a range of activities in the upcoming weeks, acting as vibrant neighborhood hubs for the elderly to gather, learn, celebrate, and actively participate in community life.
