New Delhi, Nov 9 (NationPress) The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has instructed the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) to provisionally accept the application forms of 15 candidates aspiring for the role of Assistant Teacher (Primary).
A Bench led by Judicial Member Manish Garg and Administrative Member Dr. Anand S. Khati issued the ruling while reviewing a petition filed by applicants from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, who contested an advertisement for the Assistant Teacher position in the Directorate of Education.
The petitioners, represented by advocates Ashu Bidhuri, Swapnam Prakash Singh, and Shabana Hussain, argued that the DSSSB did not provide the three-year age relaxation they were entitled to, and requested the annulment of the advertisement while asking for their applications to be accepted within the permissible age limits.
They also sought immediate interim relief, emphasizing the need for their applications to be accepted as the examination is scheduled for March 2026. They noted that their repeated appeals to the authorities had gone unanswered.
Referencing a previous ruling that allowed candidates in comparable circumstances to submit their forms despite age-related objections, the CAT highlighted that fairness necessitated a similar resolution in this instance.
The DSSSB contested the application, arguing that the candidates approached the Tribunal after the deadline and that granting such relief could lead to significant complications.
However, the CAT dismissed this concern, stating that allowing provisional participation for the candidates would not disadvantage the authorities. It ordered the DSSSB to accept their application forms both online and offline.
"In light of the relief granted in O.A. No. 3884/2025 (Deepak & Ors. vs. DSSSB & Ors.), this Original Application is resolved at the admission stage in similar terms, particularly considering paragraphs 16 to 19 of the aforementioned order. The applicants' representations will be evaluated on an individual basis," the ruling stated.
Nonetheless, the CAT clarified that the candidates' applications would remain contingent upon meeting eligibility criteria and the final results of ongoing proceedings.
