Los Angeles, Nov 9 (NationPress) Renowned singer-songwriter Jon Bon Jovi has opted against labeling his son, Romeo Bongiovi, a nepo baby. The 21-year-old aspiring musician is determined to carve his own path without the influence of his legendary father, who is 63, in his band named Lawn.
Jon, who shares Romeo with his wife Dorothea, also 63, praised his son's musical efforts in an interview with 'Independent UK', stating, “The first singles are impressive. That's all I've heard. People discuss these nepo babies, but I’m not involved at all. He possesses his own vision, which I truly admire.”
In 2022, Jon Bon Jovi, who is also a father to Stephanie Bongiovi (32), Jesse Bongiovi (30), and Jake Bongiovi (23), underwent a “traumatising” vocal cord surgery to mend a deteriorating vocal cord after Bon Jovi’s 2022 tour.
According to 'Female First UK', the band is set to release a docuseries titled “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” in 2024, which will highlight Jon's disappointment with his voice not sounding the same as it did in the 1980s. He expressed no issues with being vulnerable in this four-part Disney+ series.
The “It’s My Life” singer shared, “I’m comfortable being vulnerable. My only intention has been to convey the truth, regardless of our life phases. However, I did not foresee the surgery, nor the recovery process.”
This docuseries coincides with the release of Bon Jovi’s 16th studio album, “Forever”, marking Jon's first studio return post-surgery. Unfortunately, the music icon was unable to promote the album due to ongoing recovery.
He reflected, “We planned to launch the album alongside the docuseries and celebrate our 40th anniversary with a tour. However, after my challenging throat surgery, I had to inform the band that I wasn’t ready yet.”
Despite frequently assuring his bandmates of his readiness, they often disagreed. When asked if this was difficult, Jon replied, “It’s challenging, and there have been days I felt ready to quit, but they insisted, ‘No, you’re not. Consider how far you’ve come since last month and the month before.’”
In an inspiring comeback, Bon Jovi is poised to return to the stage in 2026, performing their beloved hits for fans.
