New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended five individuals implicated in revealing a broader conspiracy regarding the selection process for candidates in the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) exams of 2020 and 2021.
The detainees include the former Secretary of CGPSC, Jeevan Kishore Dhruv, the former Controller of Examination, Arti Wasnik, Deputy Collector Sumit Dhruv (son of the former CGPSC Secretary), Deputy Collector Misha Kosle (daughter-in-law of the brother of the former CGPSC Chairman), and District Excise Officer Deepa Adil (also a daughter-in-law of the brother of the former CGPSC Chairman).
The CBI initiated case number RC1242024A0004 on February 16, 2024, based on notifications issued by the Chhattisgarh government on February 16, 2024, and April 10, 2024.
The FIR alleges that the former Chairman of CGPSC, the former Secretary, and other officials of the Public Service Commission facilitated the examination and interview processes from 2020 to 2022, leading to the selection of their children and relatives.
According to CBI reports, a total of 1,29,206 candidates participated in the Preliminary Examination for various CGPSC posts in 2021, with 2,548 candidates successfully clearing it.
From those, 509 candidates passed the main examination and were eligible for interviews, ultimately resulting in 170 candidates being selected for various CGPSC positions in 2021.
In this case, the former Chairman of CGPSC, the former Deputy Controller of Examinations, along with four selected candidates and one private individual, have been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. The five accused will appear before the Hon’ble court for police remand.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the involvement of other suspect candidates selected in the CGPSC examination.
