Gandhinagar, Oct 3 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced on Friday the arrest of two government officials from Gujarat and Maharashtra in two distinct bribery incidents, following successful trap operations.
In the first case, CBI responded to a complaint against Ashokkumar Jadav, an Auditor/Personnel of the Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) at the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) in Gandhinagar.
The complainant, who owns a private company, alleged that Jadav solicited a bribe of Rs 4 lakh—approximately 2 percent of a Rs 2.5 crore bid value—to expedite a supply order for CCTV equipment intended for the Air Force base in Pune.
On September 30, CBI set a trap and apprehended Jadav while he was accepting Rs 3.5 lakh from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot.
The accused was presented before a special judge in Pune after a transit remand was obtained from Ahmedabad and has been remanded into police custody until October 4, as stated by the CBI.
In the second case, CBI initiated action against Lakshmishankar Mathuraparsad, Chief Office Superintendent at the Divisional Railway Hospital in Hingoli Gate, Nanded.
Mathuraparsad was accused of demanding Rs 25,000 from a contractor for processing a pending bill of Rs 91,576 alongside a performance guarantee of Rs 1.25 lakh related to a housekeeping and cleaning contract. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 20,000.
On September 29, CBI apprehended Mathuraparsad at his home in Nanded while he was caught red-handed accepting the bribe. He was arrested immediately.
Following the arrests, CBI conducted further searches at the residential and official properties of both officials.
CBI officials reported that incriminating documents and digital evidence are currently under review.
These arrests highlight the agency's ongoing efforts to combat corruption within government sectors. Further investigations are ongoing.
