Hyderabad, July 8 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated an inquiry concerning disproportionate assets held by an official from the South Central Railway.
The CBI's Hyderabad branch has filed a case against A.R. Raja Sekhar, who serves as the Office Superintendent in the office of the Senior DPO at Sanchalan Bhawan, Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway, along with his wife, A. Navneetha.
The central agency stated that the case was opened based on allegations that the accused, during his tenure as office superintendent from 2017 to 2023, illicitly enriched himself and his family by accumulating financial resources and properties amounting to over Rs. 1.54 crore, which are disproportionate to his verified income sources, for which he cannot provide satisfactory justification.
The CBI conducted searches at six locations across Telangana and confiscated 29 documents and various materials.
An FIR has been filed under sections 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) e of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and section 49 of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The FIR indicates that the accused possesses disproportionate assets approximately 104.95 per cent greater than his recorded income sources, for which he has not provided adequate accounting.
The Telangana government has granted consent under section 6 of the DSPE Act, 1946, to allow an investigation against both Raja Sekhar and his spouse.
The agency has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
In a related incident, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana announced on Tuesday that M. Sudha, a Deputy State Tax Officer from Madhapur, Hyderabad, was apprehended for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from a complainant to facilitate GST registration for the complainant's company.
