Centenary Celebrations of Congress: Rahul Gandhi and Kharge Arrive in Belagavi

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 26 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reached this city to participate in the two-day festivities marking the centenary of the 1924 Indian National Congress session.
At the Belagavi airport, they were warmly welcomed by D.K. Shivakumar, the State Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister.
He presented both leaders with badges commemorating the AICC centenary session.
The Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, greeted them with the party flag and bouquets. Other notable attendees included K.C. Venugopal, the National General Secretary and Congress MP, along with various dignitaries.
During the centenary festivities, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah officially inaugurated the SARAS Fair, Khadi Utsav, and an Exhibition-cum-Sale at the Sardar High School Grounds in Belagavi on Thursday.
He also launched the 'Asmita Trade Fair-2024', a grand exhibition and sale dedicated to products by women from self-help groups and Khadi goods.
The SARAS Fair and Khadi Utsav, organized in partnership with various government departments and organizations, will run from December 26 to January 4.
Women from self-help groups (SHGs) throughout Karnataka are participating in the SARAS fair, displaying significant products from their regions. A total of 150 stalls have been arranged, including 10 food stalls and 50 stalls specifically for Khadi products.
The fair is open to the public with free entry, operating daily from 10.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
Every evening from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m., various cultural programs will be presented. As part of the 2024-25 state budget, 50 'Akka Cafes will be established statewide with a uniform design, aimed at supporting around 1,200 women from SHGs. The food court at the fairgrounds has been uniquely set up under the 'Akka Cafe' theme, adding a special allure to the event.
