New Delhi, July 14 (NationPress) The Centre has officially approved the appointments of Chief Justices for the High Courts of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gauhati, Patna, and Jharkhand based on the recommendations provided by the Supreme Court Collegium.
In a recent announcement on X, Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal shared that the President has appointed Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva as the new Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Prior to this appointment, Justice Sachdeva served as the Acting Chief Justice following the retirement of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait on May 23. Additionally, Justice Vibhu Bakhru from the Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
The Centre also confirmed the elevation of Justice Ashutosh Kumar from the Patna High Court to Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
According to the notification from the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, who is currently serving in the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, following the transfer of incumbent Chief Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao.
The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, submitted these recommendations for Chief Justice appointments to the Centre back in May.
In separate notifications, the Centre also announced that Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao has been designated as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, while the former Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, Aparesh Kumar Singh, has been transferred to the Telangana High Court.
Responding to the apex court's recommendations, the Union government also confirmed the transfer of K.R. Shriram, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, to the Rajasthan High Court, while Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, Chief Justice of Rajasthan, will now take over as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
