New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) A number of high-ranking military leaders from the Indian Security Forces are set to receive Gallantry Awards for their exceptional courage and bravery displayed during Operation Sindoor.
Among those being honored is Air Marshal Awadesh Kumar Bharti, who will be presented with the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal—the pinnacle of wartime distinguished service recognition in the nation. Hailing from Bihar, A.K. Bharti became a prominent figure during Operation Sindoor, earning accolades for his compelling media statements.
Currently serving as the Director General of Air Operations, he was pivotal in establishing and executing mission targets during the operation.
During a media briefing on May 13, he referenced the Ramcharitmanas, stating, "Vinay Na Manat Jaldhi Jad, Bhaye Teen Din Beet, Bole Ram Sakop Tab, Bhay Binu Hoi Na Preeti." He emphasized that the message is clear for those who understand, leading to his recognition as a national hero for his courage, intellect, and literary eloquence.
On May 11, while four senior defense officials addressed the nation regarding Operation Sindoor, Bharti distinguished himself with his composed demeanor and precise replies.
In response to a journalist's inquiry about whether the Indian Air Force had targeted Pakistan's Kirana Hills, allegedly home to nuclear sites, he wittily remarked, "Thank you for informing us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installations. We were unaware of that. We have not targeted Kirana Hills."
It's noteworthy that President Droupadi Murmu recently approved 127 Gallantry awards, 40 Distinguished Service awards, and 290 Mention-in-Despatches to honor the valor and commitment of Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, coinciding with India's 79th Independence Day.
Among the Gallantry awards sanctioned by the President are 4 Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, 2 Bars to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 58 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 6 Nao Sena Medals, 26 Vayu Sena Medals, 7 Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medals, 9 Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, and 24 Yudh Seva Medals.
