On the same day, the Finance Minister will present the “economic survey”. The General Budget is planned for presentation on Saturday. Discussions regarding the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address will take place in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Monday, February 3.
Previously, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju stated that the Budget Session commences on January 31, emphasizing that the all-party meeting aims to facilitate the smooth operation of the session.
According to the Parliamentary Bulletin, the Budget Session will occur in two phases.
The first phase will run from January 31 to February 13, with the presentation of the Union Budget scheduled for February 1.
The second phase is slated to begin on March 10 and end on April 4.
“Scheduled discussions are set for February 3, 4, and 6, with a provisional reply anticipated on February 6 regarding the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, initiated by one Member and seconded by another,” the bulletin indicated.
Earlier, Kiren Rijiju addressed the press, calling for collaboration from opposition leaders and encouraging constructive discourse. He expressed hope that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would deliver a well-balanced and comprehensive budget on February 1.
Rijiju also highlighted the previous winter session of Parliament.
“The last two sessions witnessed considerable disruption in Parliament, tarnishing its reputation. I appeal to Opposition leaders and other Members of Parliament to engage in discussions during this session. If the Opposition permits Parliament to function, productive discussions can proceed smoothly,” he added.
