Amaravati, Jan 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has urged TDP MPs to intensify their efforts in securing Central funds aimed at ongoing development initiatives within the state. He stressed the importance of focusing on both development opportunities and resolving issues in their respective parliamentary constituencies.
During a meeting of the Telugu Desam Parliamentary party at his camp office, Naidu outlined the key issues to be raised in the upcoming Parliament Budget Session, which is set to take place from January 28 to April 2.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for MPs to engage with relevant Ministers and Secretaries to ensure responsibility for obtaining central funds.
Naidu noted that all MPs must participate virtually in the District Collectors’ Conference scheduled for February.
He highlighted that special attention should be given to initiatives aimed at the backward regions of North Andhra and Rayalaseema, as well as the Purvodaya scheme and the Polavaram–Nallamala Sagar projects, which are priorities for the Parliament session.
Additionally, he announced that a Bill would be introduced during this session to grant legal recognition to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
During the presentation of the Budget, MPs were instructed to guarantee the allocation of funds for projects in Andhra Pradesh.
The CM mentioned that revised estimates for the Polavaram project have been submitted and pointed out that apart from construction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) must be completed, with an additional Rs 12,000 crore still to be received from the Centre.
He expressed a desire for the Polavaram construction to be finalized before the Godavari Pushkarams in June 2027.
Naidu reaffirmed that there should be no disputes with neighboring states concerning water resource projects.
On matters such as Nallamala Sagar, whether addressed directly or indirectly in Parliament, it is crucial to present Andhra Pradesh’s arguments assertively.
He instructed MPs to communicate to the Centre that Andhra Pradesh has not raised objections to Telangana's Kaleshwaram project and the diversion of Manjira waters, asserting that Telangana’s objections to permissions for the Nallamala Sagar project are unwarranted.
The CM also stated that construction activities in Amaravati have gained momentum and that the second phase of development will commence shortly.
Plans are in place for undertaking development works worth Rs 40,000 crore under the Purvodaya project.
He called for efforts to establish a four-lane railway track from Ichchapuram to Tada, emphasizing that the Railways have substantial funding available, which should be fully utilized.
Naidu cautioned that no individual should act in ways that could obstruct the alliance's objectives, whether in the House or at the field level.
He urged MPs to familiarize themselves with the progress of works related to bifurcation issues, national highway expansion, and Sagarmala projects, and assess the potential funds that can be secured from the Centre.
In addition to state-level issues, MPs should also raise awareness of various national-level programs implemented by the NDA and respond robustly when the Opposition criticizes the BJP.
