Raipur, Jan 18 (NationPress) In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle aimed at promoting efficient governance in Chhattisgarh, a total of 63 officials have received new assignments. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Raipur Smart City, Ujjawal Porwal, has been designated as the District Magistrate of Janjgir-Champa.

A notification released by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Chhattisgarh government indicates that Bilaspur District Magistrate Sunil Chandravanshi has been moved to the position of Deputy Secretary within the state secretariat.

Additionally, two senior IPS officers ranked as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) have been reassigned.

As per the notification, Vedbrat Sirmor (ASP-Durg) has been appointed as the general manager of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board.

Krishna Kumar Patel, ASP Raipur, will now serve as the Deputy Commissioner of the Transport Department.

This extensive reshuffle was initiated by the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led Chhattisgarh government in anticipation of the municipal and three-tier Panchayat elections in the state.

This time, the Mayors of Municipal Corporations will be elected through a direct election.

To facilitate this, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet under CM Vishnu Deo Sai has already resolved to amend the current regulations governing urban body elections.

The Cabinet has sanctioned a proposal for direct elections of Mayors in Municipal Corporations, as well as Chairpersons of municipal bodies by the electorate.

The prior system for electing mayors and chairpersons of municipal entities was indirect.

The first two electoral rolls concerning the municipal and panchayat elections have been released, while the third and final electoral roll is set to be published on Jan 18, according to the state government.

It is noteworthy that Vishnu Deo Sai became the fourth Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in December 2023 after the BJP reclaimed power by defeating the Congress.

Chhattisgarh, which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh, officially became a state in 2000.
