Nearly ₹584 crore worth of urban infrastructure arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday, 24 September 2026 — as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated and broke ground on a dozen projects under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, timed to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public service.

Twelve projects, two ceremonies, one milestone

The event unfolded under the banner of the 'Seva, Sankalp aur Samarpan Abhiyan' — a state-wide campaign honouring the completion of PM Modi's 25 years of public life, which began when he assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001. CM Patel presided over the lokarpan (inauguration) of six completed AMC projects worth ₹279.80 crore and the khatmuhurt (groundbreaking) of six new projects worth ₹304.05 crore, bringing the total investment to ₹583.85 crore.

Minister of State for Urban Development Darshanaben Vaghela and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony. A draw for housing allotments was also conducted on the same occasion, directly benefiting urban residents on Ahmedabad's waiting lists.

500 new AMC appointments handed out on the spot

CM Patel used the platform to distribute appointment letters to more than 450 newly recruited Assistant Technical Supervisors and 50 Junior Clerks of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation — a visible signal that the civic body is expanding its technical and administrative workforce alongside its capital pipeline. Getting a government letter in hand at a public event, rather than through bureaucratic post, is a detail that lands differently for the recipients.
