Bengaluru, Nov 26 (NationPress) Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar emphasized on Wednesday that the position of Chief Minister holds no significance for him; rather, the priority lies in restoring the party to power in the state.

“The Chief Minister’s position or any prestigious office is of little consequence. It is essential to collaborate with everyone in the party and focus on regaining power in the state,” he stated.

He asserted that the party will make the right choices at the right time, mentioning that any discussions regarding power-sharing remain private.

Shivakumar expressed his belief in collective leadership, asserting that there is no personality cult in the Congress, but instead, a commitment to the party itself.

He further remarked that leaders from BJP or JD(S) should refrain from publicly commenting on Congress matters, suggesting they focus on their own issues.

Shivakumar stated there is a singular faction—the ‘Congress faction’—indicating that the party thrives on collective leadership.

He reflected on the support he has received from Congress during challenging times, assuring that opposition leaders need not be concerned about him.

“I am a dedicated Congressman,” declared Shivakumar.

He mentioned that he has strategized with Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi, a senior party leader, to ensure Congress's resurgence in the upcoming 2028 and 2029 elections.

Shivakumar acknowledged Jarkiholi as a valuable asset to the party, asserting that they will continue to collaborate effectively.

“My success was not achieved alone. Under the guidance of Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah, and the collective efforts of all MLAs, we brought the party to power. It is vital to preserve this unity, which is why Satish Jarkiholi and I convened,” he stated.

Responding to Opposition leader R. Ashoka’s comment suggesting Shivakumar is not a leader of the Vokkaligas, he remarked: “At no point have I claimed to be the leader of the Vokkaligas. My identity is rooted in being a Congress Party leader. While I was born a Vokkaliga, we must rise above caste and religion, although these identities may not easily let go of us.”
