Chennai, Aug 31 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, embarked on a weeklong official tour of Germany and the UK, where he was met with a heartfelt reception from the Tamil community upon his arrival in Berlin.

The purpose of this visit, which commenced on Saturday, is to attract new industrial investments and establish business partnerships beneficial for the state.

In Germany, Stalin was welcomed with great enthusiasm by expatriate Tamils waving flags and banners. Expressing his happiness on X, he stated: “Hello, Germany! My Tamil family here has welcomed me with affection and kindness. I am here to highlight Tamil Nadu’s strengths and secure investments for a promising future for our state.”

During his trip, the Chief Minister will participate in the centenary symposium of the Self-Respect Movement at Oxford University on September 4, where he will unveil a portrait of the social reformer Periyar. He is also scheduled to engage with industrial leaders, attend diaspora events, and take part in welfare programs in both Germany and the UK.

CM Stalin, along with his wife Durga Stalin, departed from Chennai airport at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday, with a send-off from ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, senior officials, and members of his secretariat. Before boarding his flight, he informed reporters that the primary aim of his trip is to secure new MoUs and enhance Tamil Nadu’s status as one of India’s premier investment hubs.

“Since 2021, our government has successfully attracted investments totaling Rs 10.62 lakh crore through 922 MoUs, generating employment for over 32.81 lakh individuals. Many of these projects are nearing completion, and several companies are already in production. My international visits have consistently yielded new projects, as evidenced by data from the Union government,” Stalin remarked.

Regarding the achievements of his previous visits, he mentioned that Tamil Nadu signed 19 MoUs during his trip to the US, three in Spain, seven in Japan, six in the UAE, and 36 in Singapore. Notably, 23 of the Singapore agreements are at various stages of implementation, creating jobs for 30,037 individuals and attracting investments worth Rs 18,498 crore.
