Chennai, Oct 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK President, M.K. Stalin, is set to visit Kovilpatti on October 28 for the inauguration of the newly-built DMK city office, along with the unveiling of a statue dedicated to the late Chief Minister and party stalwart, M. Karunanidhi.
The new party office, which occupies a three-cent site on Ilayarasanendal Road, is a two-story building that includes a specialized library.
At the entrance, an impressive eight-foot statue of Karunanidhi is mounted on a pedestal of equal height — standing as a symbolic tribute to his significant role in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.
Preparations for the Chief Minister’s visit have been inspected by Social Welfare Minister P. Geetha Jeevan, Vilathikulam MLA Markandeyan, and Kovilpatti municipal chairperson Karunanidhi.
According to Geetha Jeevan, the new office was entirely funded by contributions from party members and the community.
Books for the library have been sourced from the Anna Arivalayam library in Chennai, highlighting the DMK’s commitment to ideological education and cultural involvement.
After the inauguration and statue unveiling, CM Stalin will briefly engage with local party members and office-bearers before proceeding with his schedule.
On October 29, he will head to Tenkasi district for planned government and party functions.
This visit to Kovilpatti comes shortly after CM Stalin's previous trip to Tenkasi was postponed due to severe rainfall affecting southern Tamil Nadu earlier this week.
Initially, he was slated to visit Tenkasi on October 24–25, but adverse weather and flood alerts necessitated a reschedule.
The new Kovilpatti office is anticipated to become a vital organizational center for the ruling DMK in the Thoothukudi region in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
Party insiders indicate that the facility will serve as a venue for district-level coordination meetings, public outreach initiatives, and welfare discussions, reflecting CM Stalin's ongoing commitment to fortifying the party's grassroots network throughout southern Tamil Nadu.
