Indore, Dec 11 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday took aim at senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, asserting that the Maoist presence, which thrived under previous Congress administrations in Madhya Pradesh, is nearly eradicated now.
While addressing journalists at Indore Airport, Yadav remarked that Congress has consistently adopted a confused stance regarding the Maoist issue, highlighting that some of its members expressed sympathy when security forces took down notorious Maoists like Madvi Hidma.
“Numerous districts within the state are on the brink of being declared Naxal-free, marking a national achievement that will pave the way for consistent development in areas afflicted by this menace,” he stated.
He recalled the murder of former Congress member Lakhiram Kaware by Maoists in Balaghat back in 1999, during the tenure of the Digvijaya Singh
“Previously, a Congress leader met his end at the hands of Maoists in Balaghat district, and the then Congress CM bears responsibility,” Yadav asserted.
Without directly naming Digvijaya Singh, he added, “Now, as security forces eliminate Maoists, those Congress leaders are questioning the BJP. Congress has always shown a double standard on Naxalism.”
These comments came on the heels of Digvijaya Singh’s remarks following security forces neutralizing top Maoist leader Madvi Hidma in a gunfight in Andhra Pradesh, where Singh stirred controversy by implying it was a staged encounter involving the Maoist leader and his spouse.
Yadav’s claim that Madhya Pradesh is nearing a Maoist-free status followed the surrender of ten prominent Maoists, collectively wanted for rewards totaling Rs 2.36 crore, to security forces in Balaghat district. Officials have declared Dindori and Mandla districts in the state as completely devoid of Maoist influence.
The Chief Minister attributed the progress to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, praising their decisive national strategy against Maoism.
Just two days prior, he declared, “The moment has arrived to bid farewell to ‘Lal Salaam’. The campaign was initially slated for completion by March 2026, but due to the unwavering bravery of our security agencies and police, a new timeline has been set to conclude it by January 2026.”
