Lucknow, Sep 27 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has delivered a firm warning following the unrest in Bareilly on Friday. He stated that individuals who instigate riots will endure consequences so severe that “future generations will think twice before challenging law and order.”
During the Viksit Uttar Pradesh Vision-2047 event in Lucknow, CM Yogi remarked that a cleric in Bareilly had threatened to obstruct the city after Friday prayers, but he “forgot who is in power in the state.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that his administration would not tolerate curfews or blockades. “We made it clear there will be no blockades or curfews. Instead, we will impart such a lesson that their harmful tendencies will be corrected,” he asserted.
He elaborated, “In the past, rioters were welcomed at the Chief Minister’s residence and honored. Criminals were given free rein to control districts, and governments even saluted professional criminals. You must have seen instances where those in power were proud to associate with a mafia’s dog,” he stated.
CM Yogi accused previous administrations of establishing a system of “One District, One Mafia,” where local strongmen dictated governance, leaving common citizens at their mercy.
“Agriculture was devastated, youth jobs were sold off, and extortion gangs thrived. Their agents auctioned transfers and postings. We have targeted these immoral and illegal practices, which is why their followers are now in uproar,”
he mentioned.
He also noted that before 2017, festivals frequently turned violent, but his government has decisively ended such disturbances.
“Sometimes bad habits are hard to break, so they must be corrected firmly. The incident in Bareilly yesterday was a corrective action. The cleric thought he could threaten us and force his way, but we demonstrated the authority of the state,”
Adityanath added.
The Chief Minister stated that his government had deployed bulldozers against those who attempt to divide society based on caste and religion.
“When dishonest and corrupt individuals gain power, they abuse authority and exploit society. We created the bulldozer specifically for such individuals,”
he remarked.
The violence in Bareilly erupted when a procession displaying “I Love Muhammad” posters and placards disregarded police orders to disperse.
A large crowd advanced towards Islamia Ground and Khalil School Chowk, carrying placards and shouting slogans. Police intervened when individuals chanting “Nara-e-Taqbeer” failed to comply with orders.
However, on Saturday, the city remains calm, with no reports of further incidents.
