Patna, Sep 27 (NationPress) Following a surge of communal strife between two communities in the town of Jogbani, the district police apprehended a 20-year-old individual on Saturday morning. The suspect, Aryan Shah, reportedly shared a disparaging post concerning Prophet Mohammad on his Instagram, which incited unrest in the region the previous day.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Zishan Khan, a local from Ward No. 8 in the Choti Masjid area of Jogbani, the police validated the post and subsequently detained Aryan Shah.
An FIR has been filed under pertinent Sections of the BNS Act and IT Act at the Jogbani police station.
“The situation is currently stable. We have deployed additional forces in sensitive zones to prevent any escalation of communal discord,” stated the Station House Officer (SHO).
The incident incited attempts by some individuals to enforce market closures on Friday, leading to a significant police presence.
This inflammatory post emerged just one day prior to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's planned visit to nearby Forbesganj for a meeting with BJP leaders.
In the aftermath, opposition figures have expressed their discontent with the NDA government.
RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari accused the ruling NDA of attempting to instigate communal tensions in light of the upcoming elections.
“Every time elections approach in Bihar, the BJP strives to incite communal unrest. The Jogbani incident is a testament to this. They aim to transform Bihar into Uttar Pradesh, but with the RJD in place, their efforts will be thwarted,” said Tiwari.
JD(U) spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar condemned the actions and promised rigorous measures against the perpetrators.
“During Navratri, when devotees honor Goddess Durga, an effort was made to create chaos in Araria’s Jogbani. Our government’s motto is unequivocal — anyone who commits wrong will face justice. Disturbance creators have been identified through CCTV, and decisive action will ensue. One arrest has already been made,” Kumar emphasized.
Authorities are on high alert to avert any further disruptions.
