Jaipur, May 9 (NationPress) In light of escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border, authorities in Rajasthan's Churu district have apprehended a 22-year-old individual for purportedly disseminating inflammatory and anti-national content via social media, as reported by an official on Friday.
The apprehended individual has been named Asif Khan, the son of Umed Khan, and a resident of Bajragsar, operating under the jurisdiction of Sardarshahar Police Station.
He was taken into custody for reportedly liking, sharing, and posting incendiary content amidst the ongoing discord at the India-Pakistan border.
Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav stated that the district's Cyber Desk team is currently engaged in intensive technical monitoring of all principal social media platforms due to the prevailing tensions.
During this monitoring, the team identified suspicious activities linked to a local youth's account. This account was responsible for spreading provocative videos, images, and posts that had the potential to incite unrest and disturb public order.
Responding swiftly, a police team led by SHO Madanlal Bishnoi, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Lokendra Dadarwal and Circle Officer Rohit Sankhla, located and apprehended the accused, Asif Khan.
The Churu Police have released a warning to the public, urging responsible social media use during sensitive times.
“In light of the current tense situation along the India-Pakistan border, we urge all citizens to avoid liking, sharing, or posting any misleading, incendiary, anti-national, or communally sensitive material related to military operations or movements. Legal action will be pursued against violators,” it stated.
Sharing materials that foster communal discord, anti-national sentiments, or misinformation regarding national security constitutes a serious offense under Indian cyber and penal legislation. Authorities have reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards such actions during national security alerts.
Heightened tensions between India and its neighboring state, Pakistan, escalated following the military's 'Operation Sindoor', which targeted terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as well as Pakistan itself.
In retaliation, Pakistan attempted to strike several Indian locations primarily along the border. These threats were successfully countered by the Indian armed forces.
