Completion of Patna Metro Project Expected by August 15 Next Year

Patna, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Patna Metro Rail Project is making significant strides with the Bihar government, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, targeting the launch of service for a five-station priority corridor by August 15 next year, according to sources.
This deadline is strategically aligned with the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled for late 2025, as the government aims to present the metro as a notable accomplishment.
The state government, headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is focusing on enhancing infrastructure projects to solidify its position ahead of the Assembly elections.
A high-level meeting presided over by Abhay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Patna Metro and Secretary of the State Urban Development and Housing Department, evaluated the progress of the ongoing work, reaffirming the goal to commence operations on the Malahi Pakri to ISBT Corridor by August 15, 2025.
"We have instructed officials to complete the remaining tasks without delay. The construction work is progressing rapidly, and we anticipate finishing the Metro project by August 15 next year," Singh stated.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is overseeing the construction of the Patna Metro.
A six-kilometer stretch linking Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and ISBT is under construction.
Construction is moving forward at an accelerated pace to meet the established deadline of August 15 next year.
Singh emphasized the department's dedication to adhering to the timeline.
The Patna Metro project is steadily advancing with important developments occurring in its priority corridor, which is part of a larger network.
The Patna Metro comprises two primary corridors -- East-West Corridor and North-South Corridor -- spanning nearly 31 km and featuring a total of 24 stations.
Nitin Naveen, Bihar's Urban Development Minister, visited the ISBT Metro Rail Depot on Wednesday to evaluate the progress.
The Minister inspected the trial track and urged officials to adhere to the project timeline, highlighting its significance for urban mobility and public expectations.
This dual-corridor metro system is set to greatly enhance connectivity in Patna, with the priority corridor serving as a vital step toward making the project operational prior to the state elections.
