Bengaluru, June 23 (NationPress) In light of Congress MLA Raju Kage's vocal opposition to the Siddaramaiah-led administration, B.S. Yediyurappa, a member of the BJP Central Parliamentary Board and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, asserted that additional Congress MLAs will soon express dissent against the ruling government.
During a press briefing at BJP's state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, he remarked, "It's not merely Congress MLA Raju Kage; there are many more who will begin to voice their concerns. Just wait and see.”
Yediyurappa stated, “Senior Congress MLA B.R. Patil has made alarming claims, indicating that the housing department operates on bribes. He has even mentioned that if the Chief Minister contacts him, he will disclose the actual situation. We are worried that the Chief Minister might attempt to silence B.R. Patil.”
“They have audaciously filed FIRs with baseless claims against reputable figures like Mohandas Pai. The government is attempting to instill dread so that even prominent leaders and non-political figures hesitate to speak out. The administration is trying to cultivate an emergency-like atmosphere—this is being orchestrated by the Chief Minister, with gradual support from Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar,” Yediyurappa accused, denouncing the government's maneuvers.
He continued, “I will traverse the state and notify our party members about these developments. We are strategizing our future protests. I have already mentioned that I will be at the BJP office daily and will visit one district weekly. As instructed by our leaders, I will tour and raise awareness about the government's failures and corruption issues during party worker meetings. Initially, we will refrain from organizing any public rallies,” he explained when asked about the party's plans.
BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra remarked, “Corruption and plundering have become integral aspects of the Congress administration.”
“Congress MLA Raju Kage has publicly expressed his anger by revealing corruption in housing allocations in the state. MLA Kage mentioned that the dire situation has forced him to contemplate resigning from his MLA position,” Vijayendra criticized.
MLA B.R. Patil has unveiled the alarming condition where even impoverished beneficiaries are required to pay bribes to secure housing allocations, thus revealing the government's true nature. The fact that fixed rates and percentages are being openly collected in government offices was disclosed by none other than the Revenue Minister himself, Vijayendra noted.
The Congress government has turned into a burden for the state. While the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister attempt to downplay the BJP’s protests and the public's outrage rallies, it is Congress’s own MLAs who are now opposing them. On one hand, a silent cold war continues over the Chief Minister's position, while on the other, Congress legislators are rebelling against a state government that is mired in corruption and lacking development. Amidst all this, the suffering of the common people has reached intolerable levels, and it is evident that lawlessness prevails across the state, he commented.
Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanswamy, has claimed that the Congress government in the state operates as a “marketplace of corruption.”
Speaking to the press at the BJP office, Jagannath Bhavan, on Monday, he stated, “This is not the Congress that promised to serve the people. This is a Congress that has come for profit.” He recalled how, during the elections, Congress accused the previous BJP administration of being a “Pay CM” and running a “40 percent commission” regime.
“Now the public is reflecting those accusations back at you in disgust. If the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister were to resign instead of just the ministers, perhaps some positive changes could occur,” he remarked.
He further noted that with the Bihar elections on the horizon, the Congress leaders seem more engrossed in looting than in governing.
“This is a thoroughly corrupt system,” he asserted. “Every single individual is embroiled in corruption. People are openly declaring that Siddaramaiah himself is the most corrupt. Hence, if you have any regard for good governance, and if even a trace of dignity and honor remains, you must resign immediately,” he demanded.
