Gandhinagar, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Congress chief Shaktisinh Gohil asserted on Tuesday that his party has shown enhanced performance when compared to the 2018 local body elections in the state.
“In spite of the hurdles, the results should not be deemed unsatisfactory. In 2018, Congress held a mere 78 seats in the Assembly. Currently, with only 12 members in the Assembly, we successfully captured 11 additional seats in the local bodies compared to our single-digit performance in 2018,” he stated.
During the recently conducted Junagadh Municipal Corporation elections, Congress added 11 seats to its previous 60 seats from the 2018 elections.
“This progress has been achieved despite the coercion, manipulation, and unlawful tactics employed by the BJP in Gujarat,” he emphasized.
The Congress chief also condemned the “ongoing assaults” on democracy, specifically criticizing the BJP’s strategies like bullying threats and negative campaigning.
He remarked that these actions aim to stifle opposition voices and erode democratic values in the state.
