New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) Intensifying its criticism of the Centre regarding claims of retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre and the ceasefire 'agreement' amidst military tensions, the Congress party asserted on Tuesday that the government must provide answers to several pressing inquiries.
Pawan Khera, in a conversation with IANS, stated, “The government needs to clarify why External Affairs Minister Jaishankar issued a forewarning to Pakistan before Operation Sindoor, allowing notorious terrorists like Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed to evade capture.”
He demanded transparency regarding why details of Operation Sindoor were shared with Pakistan prior to India’s military actions, questioning the silence from both the External Affairs Minister and the Prime Minister on this matter.
Khera also criticized the Modi administration for its lack of response to US President Donald Trump’s assertions that his government facilitated a truce between the two nations.
He queried, “Why did India declare a ceasefire 'understanding' while our forces were actively engaging Pakistan?”
“Donald Trump has repeatedly mentioned that it was due to his insistence and warnings of trade disruptions that the two nations reached a ceasefire. Why are the Prime Minister and his ministers not challenging this statement?” he asked.
Additionally, he questioned, “Why has the government been evasive about the Pahalgam tragedy? Who bears responsibility for the intelligence failures, and why has no one been held accountable?”
The Congress leader also noted the lack of communication with the residents of Poonch prior to military action. Following India’s strikes on several targets in Pakistan, retaliatory mortar shelling from across the border caused significant damage in Poonch, resulting in numerous casualties.
The chairman of AICC’s Media and Publicity Department, when asked about the BJP's Nishan-e-Pakistan jab aimed at Rahul Gandhi, pointed out that it was their leaders, including Morarji Desai and Lal Krishna Advani, who had previously sought accolades for their connections and admiration for Pakistani figures.
