Is Congress Ready for a Revamp? Kharge and Venugopal to Lead Rally in Chhattisgarh Next Month

Raipur, June 24 (NationPress) As part of a renewed initiative to bolster its organisational framework in light of upcoming political challenges, the Indian National Congress is gearing up for a significant rally in Raipur on July 7. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary KC Venugopal will headline the event, which is being viewed as a crucial moment in the party's ongoing quest to solidify its presence in Chhattisgarh and throughout central India. This rally follows a succession of high-level meetings by senior Congress officials.

Recently, Rahul Gandhi visited Bhopal to engage with state-level leaders, district presidents, and working committee members in order to evaluate the party's readiness and internal coordination.

In Chhattisgarh, the Congress state in-charge, Sachin Pilot, has been conducting numerous meetings at Rajiv Bhawan in Raipur, including an extensive session on Monday that convened key figures from the state unit. During the Political Affairs Committee meeting, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed worries about increasing indiscipline within the party ranks.

Sources suggest that Sachin Pilot also challenged several prominent leaders regarding their apparent hesitation to adopt a firmer stance against the state government, urging them to be more outspoken in their roles. Following the Political Affairs meeting, an additional session took place with state officials and representatives from various departments and cells.

Sachin Pilot subsequently met with district presidents, tasking them with rallying grassroots involvement for the July 7 event, according to party sources.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal is anticipated to engage with organisational leaders and heads of frontal cells to review ongoing initiatives and evaluate the party’s readiness for forthcoming campaigns. The July 7 rally will likely address a variety of concerns, including the state’s law and order situation, the downsizing of schools under rationalisation policies, and the alleged shortfall in fertiliser and seed distribution to farmers.

The Congress leadership is also expected to discuss the recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate regarding party assets, including the attachment of Rajiv Bhawan in Sukma. With multiple layers of planning in progress and senior leaders actively participating, the Congress seems to be refining its strategy in Chhattisgarh, aiming to invigorate its cadre and present a united front in the coming months.
