Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (NationPress) The political controversy surrounding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons directed at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s son, Vivek Kiran Vijayan, has intensified significantly. State Congress president and legislator Sunny Joseph has accused both the ED and the BJP of maintaining silence, suggesting a “mutual understanding” to protect the Chief Minister’s family.

Vivek, who works as a banker in the UAE, has become the center of this political firestorm. Joseph criticized the Chief Minister for not addressing the summons and claimed he has “misled his own party cadre.”

“When questioned about the ED summons, his response was a naive assertion that his son hasn’t even visited Cliff House. This is an effort to obscure the truth, much like he did concerning his daughter’s financial matters,” Joseph stated.

The ED summons was reportedly dispatched to the Chief Minister’s official residence, raising questions about its receipt and whether it was properly redirected to Vivek's current address, as mandated by protocol.

“Even CPI-M general secretary M. A. Baby acknowledged that there seems to be a collaboration between the ED and the state government,” Joseph remarked, questioning the silence from both the ED and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“This silence suggests a broader agreement to shield the Chief Minister’s family,” he asserted.

The ED notice reportedly indicated that failure to appear and provide evidence could lead to penalties under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The Congress party has also requested information regarding bank accounts and property holdings.

Joseph further probed whether any action was taken regarding the summons or if it was quietly closed, and on what legal basis.

He also alluded to past controversies involving the Chief Minister’s daughter, recalling that despite claims of her starting a company with her mother's retirement funds, records indicated she received money from a black sand mining company without providing any services.

“That case still stands. If there was no wrongdoing, why did she approach the Karnataka High Court?” Joseph questioned.

“The Chief Minister may attempt to mislead party members, but the reality is that his daughter acquired assets she wasn’t entitled to. No justification can alter that fact,” Joseph concluded, urging both the ED and the BJP to clarify their positions on this matter.
