Bhopal, Oct 9 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Congress has made a strategic decision to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) throughout the state following the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s announcement regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), modeled after Bihar.
The meeting, presided over by Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari, saw participation from key party leaders, including former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, at the party's headquarters in Bhopal.
Before the meeting, Digvijaya engaged with the Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar, at his home. The gathering included district in-charges, PCC office bearers, and district Congress presidents.
This crucial meeting was part of the Congress's initiative to launch a statewide campaign aimed at bolstering the party's grassroots presence and effectively countering the BJP’s booth management strategies ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.
The Congress plans to appoint BLAs at every polling station statewide, as confirmed by sources within the party to IANS.
These BLAs will be responsible for directly engaging with voters, checking names on the electoral rolls, and aiding in the necessary corrections, additions, or deletions.
According to sources, the Congress is preparing to monitor the SIR closely to ensure that no eligible voter is omitted from the electoral list during the upcoming revision set to occur between October 2025 and January 2026.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) will establish district-level control rooms to manage the campaign, coordinate field operations, and maintain a web-based data system accessible to the central team.
This initiative also prioritizes outreach to young and first-time voters, recognizing their essential role in influencing election results.
Congress workers will actively visit colleges, hostels, and community centers to facilitate youth voter registration, fostering early engagement and solidifying the party's support among younger demographics.
Additionally, BLAs will conduct door-to-door outreach, engaging directly with residents to confirm their details and assist with any required procedures.
