Patna, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Congress party convened its first significant review meeting following its loss in the Bihar Assembly elections at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna.
During the meeting, there was a noticeable atmosphere of dissatisfaction among party members, who openly challenged the decisions made by senior leaders, particularly concerning ticket allocation.
Several district presidents voiced their strong criticisms.
Many dismissed the leadership's claims that the defeat stemmed from vote theft.
Amarendra Kumar Pandey, President of Rohtas District, firmly opposed the explanation provided by the high command, stating, “Congress leaders assert that the party's loss was due to vote theft. We are the grassroots workers—we do not endorse this narrative. The truth is that grassroots leaders were overlooked for tickets, while leaders from rival parties received opportunities.”
He also criticized the Congress observers and the in-charges sent from Delhi.
“The prominent leaders who arrived in Bihar as in-charges did not contribute constructively. They resided in hotels and misused the party's finances, while our most significant leader, Rahul Gandhi, is tirelessly visiting households across Bihar.”
Anil Prasad, Nalanda District President, similarly attributed the electoral setback to the disregard for dedicated Congress workers, stating, “Grassroots workers were overlooked. Genuine Congress members were denied tickets. The observers who visited did not engage with the ground-level realities—they merely interacted with candidates and departed.”
The meeting highlighted that the grassroots members of the Bihar Congress are seeking accountability from the leadership.
With numerous workers rejecting the idea of “vote theft” as the cause of defeat, the emphasis is shifting toward organizational restructuring, transparent ticket allocation, and enhanced interaction with grassroots members in preparation for future political challenges.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Ram, State Congress President, noted that the meeting concentrated on four primary points.
He explained that discussions included the significant SIR rally scheduled in Delhi on December 14, focused on the issue of vote theft, a thorough analysis of the party's electoral performance, accountability for the defeat, enhancing coordination between party leaders and grassroots members, and strategies for revitalizing the organization at district, block, and panchayat levels.
Rajesh Ram remarked, “We discussed how to ensure the success of the SIR rally in Delhi and how to fortify the party organization in the aftermath of the Assembly elections.”
