Jaipur, Feb 7 (NationPress) During the Budget Session of the Rajasthan Assembly, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma delivered a sharp critique of the Congress while responding to the Governor's address on Friday, asserting that the long-standing party is on the brink of disappearance both in the state and nationwide.
Sharma expressed his views on Congress's impending decline, suggesting that it will not only fade from Rajasthan but also from the entire nation.
“The reservoir of their wrongdoings is overflowing. Just examine the results of the Delhi elections, and everything becomes evident. Our government has reached its first anniversary. In four years, they will be entirely absent from the Assembly. Remember my words,” he declared.
While addressing the uproar in the Assembly regarding Kirodi Lal Meena's phone tapping allegations, Sharma criticized the opposition for denying a Leader of the Opposition a chance to speak.
Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully was set to address the motion of gratitude for the Governor's address, but the Congress party opted to suspend the proceedings until the Chief Minister responded to Meena's claims.
Sharma reminisced about past Leaders of the Opposition, mentioning esteemed figures such as Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Parasram Maderna, Gulabchand Kataria, Vasundhara Raje, Rajendra Rathore, Ramnarayan Chaudhary, and Haridev Joshi, claiming that never before had an opposition leader been silenced in such a manner.
He expressed disappointment to Jully, stating, “I am disheartened that you have fallen prey to the state PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra.
“Our Leader of Opposition usually approaches matters seriously, yet today, I am unsure why he succumbed to pressure. A farmer's son from an underprivileged background was denied a platform to speak. If the Leader of Opposition belonged to a different class, would the Congress have ever silenced him? Today, the Congress has committed an injustice against a farmer's son,” he lamented.
Continuing his assault on the Congress, Sharma questioned, “For how long will you mislead the people of Rajasthan? Look at yourself in the mirror before hurling accusations.”
“For 70 years, the Congress regime has taken advantage of farmers and the impoverished, but now the populace of Rajasthan has delivered a lesson to them,” he added.
He further asserted, “You will never be able to defeat me. Being a farmer's son, I will serve the eight crore citizens of Rajasthan. You will need to chant bhajans for the next 20-25 years as you have lost your political footing.”
The Chief Minister also addressed matters concerning phone tapping, the policies of the preceding Ashok Gehlot administration, and the internal conflicts within the Congress, which escalated tensions in the Assembly, prompting opposition MLAs to submit their reservations.
Regarding phone tapping, Sharma showcased newspaper articles from the Gehlot government’s era, stating: “You accuse us, but have you forgotten your own past? I am here to reflect the truth back to you.”
CM Sharma also commended the Union Budget 2025, emphasizing the tax exemption on incomes up to Rs 12 lakh.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made this spring even more delightful with this decision. The Congress has never prioritized the welfare of farmers or the middle class, but now the citizens of India are reaping the benefits directly,” he concluded.
