Cyclone Fengal: CM Stalin Reports Public Contentment with Government Relief Efforts

Chennai, Dec 1 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has conveyed that the public is pleased with the relief initiatives implemented by the state's various agencies.

Addressing the press on Sunday after assessing several rain-affected regions in Chennai and his Kolathur Assembly constituency post the devastation caused by Cyclone Fengal, the Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction with the government bodies and the feedback received from the citizens.

He noted that in areas where water typically accumulates after heavy rainfall, there is currently no standing water.

CM Stalin elaborated, “During rainfall, there may be some accumulation in certain spots. However, once the rain ceases, water usually clears in about 10-15 minutes.” He further mentioned that residents of the state capital feel relieved due to the proactive and relief efforts undertaken by multiple government bodies.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Tamil Nadu government is consistently supportive of the state's population. He stated, “Whether it’s rains or floods, we stand by them. Not just myself, but all elected officials are addressing their concerns. Should any problems arise, they bring them to my attention, and we resolve them promptly.”

In response to a question regarding the necessity for a permanent resolution to the challenges posed by cyclones and heavy rains, the Chief Minister remarked, “A permanent resolution has been achieved to some degree. However, during severe rains, we respond with urgency.”

CM Stalin criticized the Leader of Opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, for his ongoing criticisms of the government, asserting that his primary role seems to be to criticize.

He added, “The government is actively working not only for those who supported the DMK but also for those who did not.”

Additionally, the Chief Minister mentioned that Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin along with Ministers K. Ponmudy, V. Senthilbalaji, and S.S. Sivasankar have been assigned to Villupuram district.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a red alert for Sunday, predicting heavy rainfall in Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, and Puducherry. Other districts, such as Chennai, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, Dharmapuri, Salem, and areas within the Karaikal region, are also anticipated to experience significant downpours.
