Chennai, Nov 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin, conducted a review on Thursday regarding the state's readiness for the anticipated heavy rainfall in the upcoming days, while simultaneously inaugurating and laying the groundwork for a variety of welfare and infrastructure initiatives across diverse sectors.
In light of a weather advisory predicting extensive rainfall, CM Stalin convened a comprehensive meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai to evaluate precautionary strategies across all districts vulnerable to rain.
Participating in the briefing were Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and key officials from the Revenue and Disaster Management, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Home, School Education, Municipal Administration, and Water Supply Departments, alongside senior police personnel.
Officials informed the Chief Minister about measures taken to enhance monitoring systems, deploy disaster response teams, guarantee consistent communication between district administrations, and prepare schools, shelters, along with essential services for any potential scenarios.
He virtually launched several new projects under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Department, with an investment of Rs 79.94 crore aimed at upgrading the infrastructure of temples overseen by the department.
Additionally, he inaugurated completed projects worth Rs 6.77 crore.
Minister for HR and CE P.K. Sekarbabu was present at the event. In another notable step, the Chief Minister inaugurated new buildings constructed by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Minorities Welfare Department across Tamil Nadu, totaling Rs 10.79 crore.
Furthermore, he laid the foundation for new student hostel buildings at an additional expense of Rs 38.85 crore, aimed at enhancing access to quality accommodation and support services for students from marginalized communities.
Reaffirming his government's dedication to inclusive growth, Stalin distributed the first installment of financial aid for the renovation of nine historical mosques and dargahs.
Ministers S.M. Nasar and Siva V. Meyyanathan, along with Chief Secretary Muruganandam and senior officials, were in attendance at the function.
The Chief Minister also presented awards to several organizations under the Social Welfare Department as a recognition of their contributions, in the presence of Social Welfare Minister P. Geetha Jeevan.
