Amaravati, Oct 27 (NationPress) As the powerful cyclonic storm Montha approaches the Andhra Pradesh coastline, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu via phone to discuss the cyclone's impact.

In a message posted on X, the CM stated, "The Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi contacted me to review the current situation in the state concerning the cyclone. He pledged assistance and support for the state. I urge all residents to adhere to government guidelines and take essential precautions."

The Chief Minister is actively monitoring the situation from the Real Time Governance Centre (RTGS) at the Secretariat, urging officials to track the cyclone's path meticulously and implement strict measures, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas.

He has also advised citizens to remain indoors and stay alert until the all-clear signal is given.

The government has put the administration on high alert, with the cyclone predicted to make landfall near Kakinada on Tuesday night, bringing winds of 90–110 km/h and heavy rainfall across various districts.

Nara Lokesh, the Minister for Real Time Governance, is overseeing the inter-departmental response, ensuring communication systems are in place and that district-level preparations are ready. He has instructed all municipal and district administrations to run 24/7 control rooms, guaranteeing continuous communication and issuing alerts via RTGS, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), and local networks.

Officials have reported that vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, the elderly, and those living in coastal areas, have been relocated to safer zones. A total of 260 relief centres have been established in Kakinada and 140 in Nellore, stocked with food, milk, and water for 2–3 days.

Additionally, 364 schools have been prepared as cyclone shelters, with more than 14,000 schools in the affected districts given precautionary holidays.

All beaches have been closed, and fishermen have been advised against going to sea.

A red alert has been issued for the districts of Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, and Nellore.

According to official reports, 11 teams from the NDRF and 12 teams from the SDRF have been deployed for rescue operations, evacuation, and flood response. Fire services, swimmers, boats, life jackets, and emergency equipment are positioned throughout coastal regions.

The 108/104 ambulance network has been activated, and medical camps have been established in all cyclone shelters.

The RTGS war room operates around the clock, monitoring rainfall, wind, flooding, reservoirs, traffic, and field alerts. Satellite phones, V-SATs, digital radios, repeaters, and wireless support are pre-positioned to avoid communication failures, with hourly updates shared with the government and District Collectors.

Relevant departments have deployed JCBs, power saws, and dewatering pumps in vulnerable areas. Rapid restoration teams from the electricity department are stationed with transformers, poles, conductors, and generators in coastal regions. Rural Water Supply tankers, chlorine tablets, bleaching powder, and safe drinking water supplies are on standby. Sufficient rice, essentials, and relief materials are ready at Mandal Level Stock Points.

Emergency medical supplies, boat clinics, and Rapid Response Medical Teams are mobilized to provide healthcare support.

To facilitate immediate relief operations, the government has approved fund withdrawals under TR-27 for rescue, evacuation, medical care, food, drinking water, sanitation, and road clearance. Additional funds may be allocated to severely impacted districts as needed.
