New Delhi, April 18 (NationPress) The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has issued a public advisory warning travelers about potential flight delays on Friday afternoon caused by changing wind patterns in the nearby areas.
In an update shared on X, the Delhi Airport mentioned, “Due to changing wind patterns in the vicinity of the airport, some airline operations might face delays.”
To address this situation, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) has introduced air traffic flow management (ATFM) measures for incoming flights from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. IST, aimed at maintaining safe operations.
“These measures are being implemented in accordance with international aviation standards and regulatory guidelines, with the safety of passengers as the utmost priority,” the advisory stated.
Notably, the airport clarified that all other operations -- including those on all three runways and terminals -- continue to run smoothly.
“Passengers are encouraged to stay connected with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules,” the advisory emphasized.
The airport authority also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked travelers for their understanding and cooperation.
This advisory follows a weather update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which had forecasted significant wind activity across Delhi and the neighboring NCR region on Friday.
The IMD has also anticipated thunderstorms, along with lightning and light rainfall in the capital on Saturday and Sunday.
Travelers are urged to keep an eye on weather updates and coordinate with airlines for real-time flight information, the Delhi Airport advised.
In another announcement, the Delhi Airport mentioned, “Terminal 1 is now fully operational! Experience smarter travel with integrated zones, 100+ check-in counters, self-bag-drop, digiyatra, premium lounges, and more.
It was previously stated that IGI’s Terminal 2 will remain closed until further notice.
