New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) Flight services at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport faced disruptions on Friday morning due to a technical malfunction in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. This resulted in delays exceeding 30 minutes for numerous flights, as reported by a passenger traveling on an Air India flight.
Travelers affected by the delays were asked to exercise patience while technical teams worked diligently to resolve the issue.
The crew from Air India reassured passengers, stating, “Operations are anticipated to normalize shortly.” A passenger relayed to IANS that their flight had been stationary on the runway for over half an hour, attributing the delay to a technical issue within the ATC system.
The glitch reportedly influenced both arrivals and departures for a brief duration, creating congestion at the boarding gates.
As of now, airlines have not issued any official updates.
This incident follows a similar technical issue earlier in the week, just two days after airport authorities announced that operations had resumed to normal.
On Wednesday, the airport had communicated, “Please be informed that all operations are back to normal, and passengers can continue with their travel plans as expected. We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this period. Passengers are encouraged to consult their respective airlines for the latest updates on flights.”
Earlier this week, the airport had acknowledged some airlines faced disruptions in their check-in procedures due to a technical glitch. “We are actively working alongside all stakeholders to minimize delays and restore normal operations swiftly,” the statement indicated. “Passengers are urged to check with their respective airlines and plan their timings for check-in and other formalities. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers.”
Air India also shared an update on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, stating, “A third-party connectivity network issue had influenced check-in systems at certain airports, leading to delays in flight departures for some airlines, including Air India. The system has been restored; however, some of our flights may continue to experience delays as we progressively normalize the situation.”
