The Minister's visit, which began with a site inspection around 11:15 hrs, underscored the airport's role as a crucial hub for national development and connectivity.
During the ceremony, Naidu praised the dedicated efforts and professionalism of CISF personnel in upholding high standards of security and service.
The event was attended by prominent officials, including ADG Vinita Thakur (IPS), IG Senthil Avoodai Krishna Raj S (IPS), and GMR's Sudip Lakhatkia.
The operational and security arrangements were expertly overseen by DIG/CASO G. Siva Kumar, Comdt T-2 R. K. Singh, and DC T-2 Parminder Kaur, along with other senior CISF officers.
The newly modernized T-2 aims to improve passenger convenience and accommodate the airport's increasing traffic.
In his speech at the inauguration, the Union Minister emphasized, “Under the globally recognized and nationally respected leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Ji, we are enhancing and transforming our airports into world-class transit hubs at an extraordinary speed. Handling nearly 50 percent of the Northern region’s total passenger traffic and managing almost 50,000 transfers daily, Delhi is becoming a favored transfer hub. This achievement is solely due to DIAL’s relentless efforts in upgrading infrastructure and boosting passenger capacity.”
“Now, the 40-year-old legacy Terminal 2 of Delhi has been reimagined and revitalized to meet modern aspirations and growing demand. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to DIAL and GMR for executing an efficient, smart, and passenger-centric modernization of Terminal 2. Every traveler passing through will experience the essence of a Connected, Competitive, and Caring India,” he further added.
The future-ready Terminal 2 incorporates advanced systems and automation to provide a smarter, quicker, and more efficient passenger experience.
Notable features include the Self-Baggage Drop (SBD) facility—introduced at T2—allowing passengers to independently check in bags, which minimizes queues and saves time, six new Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs), and innovative design features such as swing doors on the boarding bridge that operate like traditional hinged doors (instead of sliding doors) and side-covering cushions (padded surfaces along the boarding bridge) that enhance safety and aesthetics.
