New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) engaged in a heated exchange on Saturday regarding the lack of special educators for students with special needs in municipal schools. The BJP accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led government of neglecting this critical issue over the past decade.

In response to the AAP's claims, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor remarked that the Leader of Opposition in the MCD, Ankush Narang, is merely a “statement warrior.”

Before criticizing the BJP, Narang should clarify to the residents of Delhi why the Kejriwal administration has stymied the functioning of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for the past ten years.

Kapoor highlighted the unfortunate reality that, due to political animosity, the AAP has undermined the financial health of the three BJP-led municipal corporations from 2015 to 2024.

Furthermore, after assuming power, the AAP government effectively paralyzed the operations of the unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi for nearly two and a half years, leading to significant disruptions in civic administration. “It is ironic that those responsible are now questioning the BJP on civic matters,” he stated.

Kapoor reiterated that the BJP is committed to ensuring that every school has special educators for students requiring special assistance, and Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh along with Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma will promptly address this need.

However, Narang must explain why, during the AAP's rule over the MCD from December 2022 to April 2025, their so-called “education reforming” Mayor Shelly Oberoi failed to finalize the hiring of special educators.

Previously, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva praised the initiatives of the Rekha Gupta government to offer rebates on outstanding Delhi Jal Board bills.

Sachdeva noted that although the previous Kejriwal administration made numerous promises, it never implemented a plan to address the disputed Jal Board bills.

In stark contrast, he asserted, the BJP-led Rekha Gupta government is diligently resolving the issues faced by millions of consumers.

Point of View

The ongoing dispute between the Delhi BJP and AAP over the shortage of special educators reflects deeper issues in governance and accountability. It is crucial for both parties to prioritize the needs of students with special needs rather than engaging in blame games. A constructive approach is necessary to ensure that every child receives the education they deserve.
