Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 27 (NationPress) Thrissur, known as the cultural heart of Kerala, is set to welcome the 64th edition of the Kerala State School Arts Festival, recognized as Asia's largest youth cultural event, as confirmed by government officials on Saturday.
Approximately 14,000 students will participate across 249 events, marking it as one of the most significant assemblies of its nature.
Scheduled for January 7 to 11, 2026, this five-day extravaganza will celebrate art, music, and culture, showcasing thousands of gifted students from all over the state.
State Education Minister V. Sivankutty announced the government's commitment to ensuring that the event becomes a historic milestone.
"With 19 sub-committees led by appointed chairpersons and convenors, alongside the enthusiastic support of the Thrissur community, we anticipate a magnificent success for the festival. To enhance outreach, we will utilize modern promotional techniques, including a specially crafted promotional video," added Sivankutty.
"We aim to establish a benchmark as an eco-conscious cultural gathering, with a firm commitment to adhering to the Green Protocol. A preparatory framework was established during a meeting with teachers' representatives, followed by an organizing committee session chaired by K. Rajan, the Revenue and Housing Minister," he stated.
An expert panel led by the Director of General Education will finalize appropriate venues for the competitions.
Arrangements for accommodation for participants and officials will be made in various local schools, with high-quality meals provided for all attendees.
In addition to the state-approved budget, committees are encouraged to pursue sponsorships to enrich the festival's vibrancy.
Students achieving an 'A Grade' will be awarded a cultural scholarship of Rs 1,000 each, along with unique mementos sourced through sponsorship.
