New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) - On Thursday, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva launched a fierce critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of disseminating misinformation and engaging in deceitful politics regarding the pollution crisis.
With ongoing protests from the Delhi AAP over air quality, Sachdeva emphasized the measures implemented by the BJP government to tackle pollution and attributed the worsening air quality in the capital to the failures of the Kejriwal-led administration.
Sachdeva asserted that Kejriwal should recognize that the current Air Quality Index (AQI) levels have improved compared to previous years, crediting this progress to road repairs and infrastructure enhancements initiated by the BJP.
He remarked that while Kejriwal is typically a master of rhetoric, he has now ensnared himself in his contradictory statements.
"Kejriwal claims that 15 years ago, pollution in China's capital Beijing was significantly worse than in Delhi, yet the Chinese government took decisive action and achieved improvement," Sachdeva stated.
He highlighted that Kejriwal himself had previously acknowledged that a decade ago, Beijing's pollution was worse than Delhi's. Thus, he questioned why, during his 11 years in office, Kejriwal's government failed to ameliorate the pollution when Beijing managed to improve its situation.
Additionally, Sachdeva pointed out that it would have been wise for Kejriwal to inform Delhi residents about the activities of 14 out of 22 AAP MLAs—including the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, and former Environment Minister Gopal Rai—who are currently in Goa and Gujarat while Delhi faces pressing pollution issues.
In a statement, the Delhi BJP reiterated that tasks such as eliminating garbage heaps, repairing sidewalks, managing e-waste, cleaning the Yamuna, and enhancing road conditions should have been addressed by the AAP during its 11-year tenure.
"Had the AAP government completed even half of these tasks, the remaining work could have been easily achieved. However, Kejriwal and the AAP failed to accomplish a single one in the past 11 years," the statement emphasized.
The party noted that the BJP has been in power in Delhi for the last nine months. "Since February 20, 2025, the Chief Minister, all ministers, and the Lieutenant Governor have actively engaged with the people on Delhi's streets," it stated.
"Pollution is not a recent issue; it has been escalating in Delhi for years. If Arvind Kejriwal had undertaken even minimal efforts, the situation would not have worsened so drastically. Instead, he has misled and deceived the residents of Delhi," the statement concluded.
