New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) Significant disclosures have emerged in the current investigation of the Red Fort blast incident, revealing the financial backing involved. According to sources from the Delhi Police, Dr Umar Mohammad and his accomplices managed to gather nearly Rs 20 lakh in cash to facilitate their conspiracy.
The Delhi Police have identified the accused as Dr Muzammil, Dr Adeel, Umar, and Shaheen, who collectively amassed around Rs 20 lakh, which was subsequently handed over to Dr Umar Mohammad.
Investigators discovered that the group procured more than 20 quintals of NPK fertiliser, valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh, from Gurugram, Nuh, and surrounding areas. This fertiliser is believed to have been utilized in the creation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) responsible for the explosion near the historic Red Fort.
Moreover, sources indicated a financial dispute between Umar and Muzammil, hinting at potential internal conflicts within the group. To ensure confidentiality and coordinate their activities, Umar reportedly established a private Signal group with two to four members to manage communications regarding logistics and targets.
In a crucial finding, investigators revealed that just before the blast, Umar Mohammad visited a mosque in Old Delhi, where he remained for over 10 minutes before proceeding to the Red Fort. This detail, captured through local intelligence and CCTV footage, is under investigation to determine whether he met with any accomplices or received last-minute instructions.
Adding to the evidence, forensic specialists retrieved a severed leg near the steering of the i20 car that detonated at the site. DNA analysis confirmed that the sample matched that of Dr Umar, establishing his direct connection to the assault.
The powerful explosion occurred around 6.52 p.m. on November 10, sending shockwaves throughout the national capital and triggering immediate security alerts. The blast took place near one of India’s most renowned monuments, raising concerns regarding the breach of security in the high-security zone surrounding the Red Fort.
Following the incident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken charge of the investigation from the Delhi Police’s Special Cell. NIA officials have secured the area and are conducting forensic analyses of the debris, including explosive residues, vehicle components, and digital evidence.
